Hi, I've been thinking a lot about streamers lately. To this point, I have never gone out with the intention to fish streamers. Often I will nymph/dry upstream and then fish streamers on the way back down. Many times this is a half-hearted attempt aimed more at making the walk back more enjoyable, but the last couple times I have given it an honest go. Some quick estimations here - for every hookup I bet I get 30 chasers and 10 missed "strikes." It's fun to move fish but how do those of you who fish streamers get them to commit? Obviously there is an element of territory protection here and many of these fish probably were never going to strike and I get all that. I have also varied my casting angle to the stream and my retrieve somewhat and tried to fish different types of water. Most of my streamer fishing has been with size 6-10 clousers and woolly buggers, so maybe there are other flies that I need to tie up. Any tips or conversation and streamer types and strategy here in the driftless? Please help. I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
